Funding for NRM and Landcare

There are many opportunities for landholders and organsiation to seek funding to assist them in undertaking planning and onground NRM and landcare activities. This page provides links to organisations that provide funding to assist the community in undertaking these activities.

There are a number of funding opportunities for community groups, individuals and primary industry businesses.

Australia Post Community Development Grant

Community groups, including local landcare groups across Australia, can now apply for yearly grants of up to $3,300 (including GST) to help improve their local community and environment, through the Australia Post Landcare Community Development Grants Program.

Bush protection incentives

Options include financial offsets, revolving funds for conservation covenants, vegetation management plans and agreements, plus the establishment of private nature reserves.

Caring for our Country initiative

Caring for our Country is the Australian Government's new natural resource management program that will integrate delivery of the existing natural resource management programs, the Natural Heritage Trust, the National Action Plan for Salinity and Water Quality, the National Landcare Program, the Environmental Stewardship Program and the Working on Country Indigenous land and environmental program.

Cradle Coast property management planning project

The next round of this project is now underway with funding allocated for 50 property management plans in the Cradle Coast NRM region.

Dairy effluent management project

The Dairy Effluent Management Project assists Tasmanian dairy farmers to manage dairy effluent in a sustainable way.

Landcare Australia funding

Landcare Australia facilitates several exciting funding opportunities for Landcare and Coastcare groups.

Mitre 10 Junior Landcare Grants Program

Through the Mitre 10 Junior Landcare Grants Program, any school or organisation that would like to involve students in landcare projects, in conjunction with local landcare groups, can apply for grants to assist them with the cost of projects.

Natural resource management - DAFF funding programs (Aust Govt)

The Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry provides a wide range of funding programmes to assist with natural resources management.

Private land conservation programs

There are a range of programs available addressing conservation on private land.

Threatened Species Network Community Grants

The Threatened Species Network is a community-based programme of the Australian Government’s Natural Heritage Trust and WWF Australia. Through its Community Grants Programme, communities are encouraged to take long-term responsibility for the health of our natural environment, specifically targeting the needs of species and ecological communities recognised as threatened by the Australian Government.

Westpac Operation Backyard

Westpac Operation Backyard is a Westpac employee grant program which provides funding for environmental projects that Westpac employees are involved in as volunteers.
