Weed management

Weeds pose a significant threat to Tasmania's natural environment and to our agricultural industries. This section provides comprehensive information on weeds, their identification and best methods of control.

The Department of Primary Industries and Water's Weeds Index includes links to identification information, control and eradication methods, and weed management plans for problem weeds in Tasmania.  

If you find a weed that you haven't seen before, or suspect you have found a weed on the exotic weeds watch list, report it immediately. Call the Australia wide Exotic Plant Pest Hotline on 1800 084 881. All calls to the hotline are free except those from mobiles.

Tasmanian Herbarium

The Tasmanian Herbarium forms a part of the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery. This site provides information about the Tasmanian Herbarium and accesses the Tasmanian Vascular Plant Census, a database of vascular plants (including weeds) recorded from Tasmania.

Vegetable IPM manual

The Vegetable Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in Tasmania Manual can be used as a useful resource for education and training packages on IPM of vegetable insects, diseases and weeds in Tasmania.
