Veterinary Services Subsidy Scheme

The State Government has established a subsidy program to help dairy farmers improve or maintain the welfare of their cattle during the current downturn.

Under the program, Tasmanian dairy farmers can claim 50% of the cost of a professional veterinary visit to their property where

  • It is for the purpose of providing advice about the health and welfare of their cattle or

  • It is for treatment to resolve an identified health and welfare issue.

The subsidy is not for costs associated with market assurance programs, export testing or over-the-counter drugs.

Subsidy applications will be processed in the order they are received. The subsidy scheme lasts until 30 November 2009 or the program budget of $25,000 is exhausted, whichever is first.

Please note that the subsidy is only payable to a registered dairy farmer and for a professional veterinary visit between 6 October and 30 November 2009. Applications should be sent to DPIPWE as soon as possible but by no later than Monday 14 December 2009.

To apply, you will need to fill out an application (available on the DPIPWE website) and provide the veterinarian’s invoice.
