Native Vegetation Legislation

Legislative Changes to Protect Threatened Native Vegetation Communities

The Tasmanian Government has developed  legislation, effective from 30 April 2007, to improve the protection of threatened native vegetation communities.

The legislation establishes a list of threatened communities under the Nature Conservation Act 2002 as well as measures to protect these communities from clearance and conversion under the Forest Practices Act 1985.

For more information on the legislative changes are available at the Department of Primary Industries and Water (DPIW) website.
