The Australian Government has appointed an expert panel to examine the social impacts of drought on farm families and rural communities as part of its national review of drought policy. The seven-member panel, to be chaired by Mr Peter Kenny, will go on the road to hear first-hand how the drought has affected families and communities.
The expert social panel has released an Issues Paper , and has called for written submissions. All affected and interested parties are strongly encouraged to make a written submission, as this process will be critical to the success of the expert social panel's assessment.
All interested stakeholders, including those wanting to participate in the social assessment's public consultation process, are encouraged to register their details on the stakeholder register . Registered stakeholders will receive updates and announcements on the national review of drought policy.People can register their interest in participating in the panel's social assessment, and receive regular updates, by emailing, or ringing the panel's Secretariat on 1800 200 876 (free call).
