Tasmanian Rural Community Young Leaders Academy

Tasmanian Rural Community Young Leaders Academy will focus on Tasmanians with a passion for rural communities and farms in the age group 18 to 25 years who want to grow themselves, and have fun in the process.  (Applicants up to the age of 30 are welcome to apply.)

The program will make an ongoing differences to the rural sector in Tasmania through:

  1. Increased skills and networks for future leaders which increase economic, environmental and social sustainability, and mental and physical health of the rural sector;
  2. Increased lifestyle and career options for young people in rural communities; and,
  3. Ensured delivery of key community or industry projects by participants and graduates.

The program will run over two weekends, with mentoring and linking sessions between the weekends and after graduation.  The Academy will begin accapting applicants on 15 July, 2009.  The first Academy will start on 4 September 2009 and conclude formally by 31 October 2009.

These future leaders will deliver economic and social health in their chosen pathway.  The graduating class will have:

  1. A strong sense of group identity,
  2. Begun to develop effective networks,
  3. The ability to generate strong visions for the future, grounded on a well founded factual base,
  4. The project skills to see a vision to reality,
  5. The relationship and leadership skills to effect sustained change.
