New plant quarantine manual

Tasmanian Government Media Release - 27 June 2008

Tasmania's Plant Quarantine Manual has been updated and released today, including a number of changes to impor requirements and in a new format to make it easier to use.

The consequences of pest introduction for Tasmania are far more serious, given the special qualities and significance of the State's brand.  For example, we have export opportunities to Asia that no other states in Australia share, because we are fruit fly free.

The manual is important news for anyone with an interest in bringing plants, fruit, vegetables, seed, grain or any other plant products into Tasmania.

Plant quarantine manual can be found on the DPIW website .

Inquiries can be directed to Dr. Darren Phillips on (03) 6336 5272
