What is MyFarm?
MyFarm is a mapping application aimed at assisting farmers with farm planning and management. It is currently being developed as part of the FarmPoint Project in the Department of Primary Industries & Water and is part of the State Government's SMART Farming Initiatives.
What does MyFarm offer?
- Displays property related data as the base map, including property boundaries, rivers, contours, roads, aerial photography, etc.
- Mapping functions, including measuring distance/area, adding paddocks, gates, dams, fences, and printing a property map.
- Recording farm management information, including paddock history, fence details, etc.

Here are some example screens from the version of MyFarm shown at Agfest.
How can I get MyFarm?
MyFarm is currently under development. A prototype version was demonstrated at Agfest this year, and received quite a lot of interest. The FarmPoint Project is now refining MyFarm to incorporate the feedback and suggestions gathered. We expect a release to Tasmanian farmers* towards the end of 2008.
If you are interested in trialling MyFarm, please fill out an Expressions of Interest , contact us by eitehr email on farmpoint.enquiries@dpiw.tas.gov.au or by phoning 1300 368 550. Forms will be forwarded by August to those who express interest to gather information on their property to ensure the trial covers a number of agricultural sectors.
* Tasmanian farmers are classified as those earning a majority of their income from and contributing a majority of their labour to a primary production enterprise.
